Clearly, physical activity improves your overall health. Physical activity improves your mood, reduces fatigue and gives you a sense of mastery over your body. Aerobic exercise is particularly beneficial to your heart. 

However is exercise a necessary component of successful weight loss? The latest statistics suggest that it is not. Millions of Americans are currently exercising in gyms of one kind or another and they have not been able to lose their excess weight, unless they make the necessary nutritional changes as well.

Finally, the most effective physical activity is usually finding one that you really enjoy. Walking, bicycling, swimming, tennis, etc. are all excellent choices.
